National Toilet
Paper Roll-Out

Hurricane Katrina disrupted 20,000 feet
of sewer on the south side of our town. At $200/linear foot, the
estimated cost for replacement is $4,000,000. We should get help from
FEMA, the FEDS and the State government. But, the city still will be
responsible for 5-10% of the cost.
“Rotary Rebuilds” was our project to provide homes for
the less fortunate in “The Pass”. Eighty percent of our homes were
significantly damaged or destroyed. Our goal is to rebuild 100
homes for the needy, at no cost to them. These structures will be
1,200 square feet, raised 18 feet for an estimated cost of $50,000.
The Mennonite Disaster Service builds these homes for us at no cost.
Rotary of PC provides all funding and case managers. Approximate
plumbing cost for these homes is $6,000 each. Keeping in mind that
a sewer begins with a commode and sink, these two projects (The Sewer
and Rotary Rebuilds) are a perfect fit.
